Printer Trails

3d printer drawings

23.5 x 23.5 cm, 52 Pages, 2022

Printer Trails is a book created using a 3D printer with ballpoint pens attached to the print head in place of the typical filament. Each page documents the progress of the printer as it works through a 3D file over the course of several hours. The resulting images capture the printer's movements and display the translation of the 3D object into 2D, as well as traces of the machine's computational logic and algorithmic decision-making processes.
